NearHero was created to solve the issue behind the iconic phrase “It’s so hard to find good help these days”. Finding good help should never have to be a challenge. Especially when we live in one of the greatest times of innovation. There are more professionals in 2017 than ever. The freelance business is constantly expanding with millennials realizing that you don’t need to clock-in at a mundane 9-5 job in order to pay bills.



THE PROBLEM



Economy



The unemployment rate in the U.S. has remained at a steady 4.9%. With a population of 326,000,000 that number is incredibly high. U.S. companies employed 15 million workers in their overseas affiliates in 2016. Jobs outsourcing helps U.S. companies be more competitive in the global marketplace. It also increases U.S. unemployment. The 15 million outsourced jobs are double the 7.4 million unemployed in the U.S.​



Millennials



While the U.S. job market has continued to recover, young Millennials have increasingly been left out. In the past six months, the U.S. economy has added a little over 2 million jobs, according to one official survey. Yet the number of workers aged 20 to 24 dropped by just over 200,000 jobs during that same period.



New Work



A new generation of tech-savvy millennials is rising in workplaces, but some are having trouble navigating the job market. Millennials are a well educated generation but many of its members have loads of college debt and were delayed by the Great Recession in leaving home and pursuing careers. Older millennials in particular have experienced a very difficult job market and, unlike previous generations, their workplace is less structured and their career roadmap is less defined.



Debt



It’s 2017 and Americans are more burdened by student loan debt than ever. Americans owe nearly $1.3 trillion in student loan debt, spread out among about 44 million borrowers. In fact, the average Class of 2016 graduate has $37,172 in student loan debt, up six percent from last year.​

NearHero’s objective is to help its users find the job of their dreams without having to go through the outdated tradition of submitting resumes and waiting days, sometimes weeks, for a call back. By using location services, in-app messaging, and Yelp-inspired profiles, NearHero allows everyone on both sides of the job market to connect and work with professionals nearby.

By 2020 Millennials will account for nearly half the global workforce. An even more surprising statistic is that 34% of the American workforce engages in some type of freelance work. It’s no coincidence that the number of freelancers has grown at the same time Millennials have become the largest generation in the U.S. workforce. We’ve reached a point in time where it is in fact possible to find good help these days. Most local coffee shops have become the remote offices of designers, engineers, writers, and marketers. NearHero connects you with professionals nearby, from all walks of life, within seconds.



Filter your search



NearHero aims to be the most efficient, yet easiest way to find work or workers. In order to ensure only real people are using the app, every user signs in with their Facebook page. After that, their profile is immediately created, prompting the user to enter their profession. Once the 2-step set up is complete, every user within a 5 mile radius logged in as “visible” will be displayed on the map. Our search tool allows you to input what you’re looking for, and subsequently filters your results to ensure you get the best match.

Our in-app messaging feature makes communication safe and easy. After checking out your potential candidate’s profile and reviews, you can message them with your job offer. It’s quick and easy, and best of all you don’t need to go through the hassle of dealing with a third-party, submitting a resume, or reviewing a bunch of resumes. There’s nothing better than actual human contact.
